Actually, we Japanese, including me, have few opportunities to express our own opinions. A Japanese proverb says "Stand out from the crowd and you just invite trouble for yourself." So, we tend to choose not to do them. I think it's one of the reasons Japanese, including me, are not so good at learning foreign languages.
